The US Department of Defense announced that it will send additional fighter jets and ships to the region to enhance its support for Israel’s security in the face of “threats from Iran.”
US and Israeli defense ministers discussed the redeployment of US forces in the Middle East.
US Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh stated that Secretary Lloyd Austin has instructed to send additional military support to Israel in light of a possible Iranian attack.
Accordingly, the Pentagon will reorganize the American military presence in the region based on current conditions to enhance Israel’s security against “threats from Iran.”
In this context, Secretary Austin ordered an increase in the number of American military units involved in ensuring Israel’s regional security and sent additional fighter jets and warships to the region.
The US will replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt aircraft carrier currently operating in the region with the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier.
Additionally, the Pentagon will send additional cruisers and destroyers with ballistic missile defense capabilities to the region and will also enhance ground-based ballistic missile defense capabilities.
Secretary Austin also ordered the deployment of an additional fleet of fighter jets to the region for the defense of Israel.
